2. It's not the same story i remember as a child, because the three little pigs were found guilty.

PILOT STORY

Who? A pilot of the Air Canada 767
Who is involved? The pilot and the passengers of the plane.
Who does/did the situation affect? The situation affected the passengers because some got injured due to the rough nose dive toward the surface.
Who said so? The newscast of CNN who reported and researched.

What? The pilot had overslept and woke up thinking Venus was a plane flying toward them.
What is happening? The pilot of Air Canada 767 was supposed to take a 40 minute nap, but it soon turned to 75 minutes.
What did happen? The pilot woke up very disoriented and saw the bright glow of Venus and thought it was a plane coming their direction so he nosedived the plane to get out the way.
What are the consequences? Some passengers were injured and woken up with a scare that the plane had crashed.
What is different about this? Something different about this is that this rarely happens. Pilots don't often mistake a planet in the sky for a plane coming it's direction and cause the plane to nosedive to the earths surface. It could really frighten the passengers and make them have fears of riding in planes again.
What are the choices? The choices the pilot made was the 1st instinct he had, which was to get out of "the planes" way. He wanted to save the passengers and moved out of the way.

When? January 14, 2011
When did or will this happen? This happened on January 14, 2011 on the Air Canada 767
When was this discovered? When the plane landed in Zurich, people believed it was just a turbulence issue, but then the pilot who caused the problem shared his experience.

Where? On an atlantic flight from Toronto, Canada to Zurich, Switzerland
Where did or will this happen? It happened on the Air Canada 767 plane on an atlantic flight from Toronto, Canada to Zurich, Switzerland.

Why? The pilot had fallen asleep for 75 minutes instead of 40.
Why did this happen or will it happen? He overslept and woke up very disoriented and thought the planet Venus was the lights of another plane coming towards them.

How? It was a mistake that the pilot had made. Just an issue of over sleeping during his rest break.
How did it or will it happen? The pilot had slept 35 minutes over the right time and woke up very confused and disoriented. He then saw the glowing of Venus and mistake it for another plane coming their direction.
How much does it cost? It cost nothing in money, but it cost a well scare from the passengers. Their lives could have been taken away from them.
How many people does this affect? Everyone on the flight that was up and felt the sudden drop was affected and caused them to be shocked and frightened.
How do you feel about this? I feel that all planes that have long flights over seas or land should have different shifts with different pilots, so that the pilots can get rest while the others are guiding the plane.

HANDCUFF STORY

Who? A 6 year old girl.
Who is involved? The Georgia police, 6 year old little girl, and principal/staff of Creekside Elementary

What is happening? She throws a tantrum which then results into the police coming to handle it.
What did happen? The school had to call the police to handle the 6 year old aggressive tan
What are the consequences? Little 6 year old girl was handcuffed and broght to the police department to try and get a hold of her parent or guardian.
What is different about this? A little 6 year old girl had so much commotion caused and it included the police being called and her being handcuffed.
What are the choices?

When? On a Friday morning in 2005
When did or will this happen? It happened during school on a Friday morning in 2005
When was this discovered? It was discovered the morning when all the whole incident occurred.

Where? Creekside Elementary in Florida
Where did or will this happen? It happened at Creekside Elementary in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Why? A little 6 year old girl had a tantrum
Why did this happen or will it happen? She had a tantrum and caused many disturbances and violence that she had to be taken in handcuffs by police.

How? The 6 year old would not calm down or listen to authority so she was handcuffed.
How did it or will it happen? She disobeyed the authority of her school and the police and was handcuffed.
How much does it cost? It didn't cost anything in money, but it cost her reputation at her school.
How many people does this affect? The Georgia police and authority of the school.
How do you feel about this? I feel that the police did the right thing, and the little girl should have some type of consequences for her actions.

AUSTIN FISHER STORY

Who? Austin Fisher
Who is involved? Austin Fisher and the School
Who does/did the situation affect? It affects the reputation of his school and himself.
Who said so? CNN.

What? School told senior, Austin Fisher, he could not walk the stage at graduation because of a lot of absences.
What is happening? Thousands are wanting to let senior, Austin Fisher, walk the stage of graduation.
What did happen? He was staying home to help care for his mother who has cancer.
What are the consequences? The consequences could be that he will not walk the stage of his graduation.
What is different about this? Most kids who don't go to school do not get to walk the stage, but Austin Fisher has thousands and thousands of people trying to change the schools mind and let him walk.
What are the choices?

When? This 2011-2012 school year.
When did or will this happen? Austin's senior year in high school.
When was this discovered? After his story received national attention on CNN

Where? Carrollton (Ohio) School District
Where did or will this happen? It all happened in Carrollton (Ohio) School District

Why? This all happened because he was missing a lot of days of school due to his mothers case of cancer.
Why did this happen or will it happen? He was missing school because he was staying home to take care of his mother who has cancer.

How? It all happend when his school said he could not walk the stage and his story was shared to the nation and he started to get support from thousands.
How did it or will it happen? His story was shared to the nation by CNN and he gained support from people to let him walk.
How much does it cost?
How many people does this affect? It affects a lot of people who have followed Austin and it affects the school that said he couldn't walk because now they have something to think about.
How do you feel about this? I feel this is a great story and that Austin should walk because he had a reason of missing school.

Architecture preview

this photo is angles & shapes because of the symmetry of the basket in the picture, even the handles on the basket were reflected across from one another.

this photo is details because its a close up of the building instead of showing the full building.

This picture is surroundings because the building matches its peaceful environment on the water with the tree tops behind it instead of a busy city scenery where it would have probably clashed.

this picture represents light because the blue lighting on the roof plays with the mood of the rest of the house.

this photo is patterns because the whole building itself repeats the same box-like pattern. It almost looks like a disformed rubix cube.

6.  The building was created as a Hotel in Dubai with 205 rooms.
7. I picked this building because one of my favorite movies was Slumdog Millionaire in Dubai. Another reason was becuase when i was reading about the building , it was it's own island on the side of Dubai. Then i wanted to know what the building was used for, and the figure of the hotel looks like a sailboat which i thought was pretty cool.

Who- Honan Abaji
What- Scaring away the villagers by threatening to throw bombs
Where- Baghdad, Iraq
When- Yesterday
Why-  like the feeling of knowing that people are scared and will do what they say
How- Stress

Bombing terrorist threatens to exterminate entire village

Honan Abaji along with other un-known terrorists threatened to exterminate their own village in Baghdad, Iraq yesterday around noon, by scaring away the villagers with multiple bomb threats caused by stress. The mob of terrorist know that the villagers are very much scared and will do anything to live, twelve people were killed and multiple were wounded throughout the day.

Picture number 1: The picture had symmetry and patterns because of all the candles that are floating upwards in the sky there are multiple, too many to even begin to count. They also all repeated the same color in the sky.

Picture number 2: The picture has a blurred Background which causes the person in the picture to stand out and be the main focus point, there are really no distractions causing you to look away from the man in the picture.

Picture number 3: The picture had depth because of the layers you can break the picture down to.

Sports & stories

Some pictures came out “blan” or just “fine”.
Focus was lost in a couple pictures.
First picture in picture story didn’t show what the caption said.

Pictures looked like they came out in a “professional camera”
Realness of the photos, nothing looked staged

The photographer did a pretty well job taking pictures, some were very deep and interesting. I liked how the photographer wasn’t afraid to take pictures that might shock the person viewing the pictures.

The photographer made his pictures seem as if he was there in the scene.
His strengths, he had shown a good tone within his photos and his portfolio had a lot of unique creative photos.

They  looked at the stories in each portfolio and decided which was stronger. They rewarded diversity. They had to be a good editor. There has to be no bad pictures that brought down the rest of the photos in the portfolio.

1.       I liked the tennis picture. It was very “tight” and there was so much emotion even though you couldn’t see the player’s face.
2.       I favored the goose picture over the escalator because you really don’t see geese running into a runner. He caught the picture in the moment and this wasn’t planned.

Warm Up - Japanese Earthquake

It's unbelievable to see this picture of the burned out cars and I wonder exactly where this took place and how they are planning to move all the cars .
-Viewpoint

On a personal level i admire people who aren't afraid to serve for the country. I know that you would have to have heart and be beyond brave. But knowing myself, that wouldn't be me. I really could't see myself being as brave as the Sgt. in this picture.
- Balancing elements

It's very weird looking at this picture of the town, only because it looks like Austin but in an alternate universe. The town looks completely abbandoned, which might have been hard to leave assuming that the town had to be full of people up and about around this area.

Newspaper Notes

Broad Sheet - "The Big One"
Tabloid - "The Smaller" of the two .
On a broad sheet newspaper the average # of stories is between 3-5.
Tabloid can maybe only fit 2.
Stories on the cover is of importance. "News Value", what is the most important story ?
The Flag: Name of the newspaper & the "teaser".
Teasers dont have to have photos.
Folio -school name, Motto, date. (Some might have Price tags, website, recycling)
Headline, (to get your attention) Should be written for the first paragraph.
Sub-Headline: tells us more about the story. You have to read more of the story.
At least one Sub-Headline.
By-Line, the person who wrote the story & their position on staff.
Story is below the By-Line
Pages should have pictures, you should have a dominate photo.
Caption is below the picture. It has three parts: Caption Head, Photo-By, & Actual Caption.
Caption Head Job, like a teaser. like a headline needs to be a little fun.
1st sentence- 5 W's & one H. (who where when)
2nd sentence- Background information about the picture that you can't get from looking at the picture.
Sometimes you need to write more, you can add more background info, or insert a quote.
The little boxes are called info graphics, puts info into graphic form. ; Additional information that is not added in the story.
3 pieces that need to be incorporated in "the box" - Table of Contents, volume # & issue #.
"Staff Box" MAST HEAD - Eagle's eye Staff, Editorial Policy, Organizations.
Editorial Policy: stating that you are the vioce of Akins high school., whatever you write is okay as long as it is okayed by advisor.

Front Pages of The World

New York Post, because personally the big lettering & the giant pictures catch my attention. And i like how there isn't much going on in the cover, so it drew my attention.

"2 Deadly Minutes" because it makes you wonder what is going on and who was involved. the word "Deadly" caught my attention out of the whole newspaper.

Two stories

Some title lines are bigger & bolder than the rest. There is always at least one big picture to go with the cover story. The sizes vary .

The number of cover stories. The number of pictures. And the title of the newspaper.

Magazine Cover

Happy, Akins, Building

This picture is "Happy" because the locker room is like my 2nd home. It's where the volleyball team hangs out all year and the only place in the school that i can just be me, and relax.

This picture is "Akins" because when i think Akins i automatically think sports. Even though we don't have the best teams in our district, sports play an important role in our lives. This picture shows the hallway (thats located in the gym) where all sports (guys/girls) gather after games or before games when having talks with the coaches.

This picture is "Building" because when i think building i think about classrooms. This picture was taken in Mr.Voge's classroom. His classroom had rockets on his roof, and ive never seen another teacher do so. I thought it was unusual and a bit strange (in a good way), and it makes me have a diffrent prespective on the term "building".

Magazine Cover Types

Early magazines modeled their covers to look like book covers with a title and a publication date, but there was nothing shown as to what would be found in the magazine. The table of cover and the book like cover were used between the 1700-1800's. The symbolic cover was a typical symbolic manner to get people to read without knowing what's in the magazine. Some magazines used symbols on the cover that were closely related to those in the bible. Some newspapers had no covers and automatically started the first story. Magazines started to add a title of one of the stories that could be found inside, on the cover to appeal to the reader.

The poster cover magazines had artwork that had looked like it should've been framed and hung. Some poster covered magazines had no cover lines and the cover didn't relate to any of the stories inside. The poster mostly represented a general mood or the season. Covers celebrated industry and progress, and some covers slipped the cover lines to the unsed space at the bottom of the magazine. Covers began to be black and white and bold. Most covers had in common the fact that most had a single focus with small cover lines.

Pictures maried to type depended on it cover lines to get the readers attention and cover lines now became common.

2011 Reflection

The reason i chose this as a favorite photo is because when i first read this i thought it was funny, and i love how ironic it is that it was coming from a baptist church.

I like this picture first of all because the facial expression Derek Jeter has. Second because i love the Yankees. And third because of everyones faces in the crowd seems priceless and kind of already shows whats gonna happen.

I like this photo because i love to watch soccer, and Abby Wambach is one of my favorite soccer players. Plus i remember watching this game and her scoring this goal was amazing. Since the two girls on Brazil's team were right infront of her i was expecting it not to go in, but she didn't dissapoint.

Best Song:
Last Friday Night by Katy Perry because it reminded me of volleyball season. We would get all get pumped to this song. Which is kindof weird because half our team never really got along with eachother. So this reminds me of the good times in volleyball.

Best Movie:
The Decendents was one of my favorite movies because i can remember the day i saw that movie. My friend had  invited me to a movie premier and so it was free. I had no clue what it was about, but after i saw the movie i thought it was actually a really good movie and the ending to it was pretty intense. Plus i loved the scenery in Hawaii.

Important News:
I loved the Royal Wedding! I was completly infatuated with the whole thing, to the dress to the kiss to the outfits to the crazy hats worn.

Important Person:
Well my favorite important person in MY EYES, is Rachel Zoe. I love her and i would love to have her job. Her show recently came out with a new season where she had dressed so many stars for important events. And some of her good friends includes, Michael Kors (Louis Vuitton) & Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel). And i had also just heard of her this year,

Best Sports moment:
I think my favorite sports moment was pretty much the goal that saved U.S. in the game against Brazil. Without the goal they would've been eliminated in the 2011 World Cup. Megan Rapinoe had sent the ball to Abby Wambach who tied the score in the last few moments in the game.

During my break on New Years Eve me and my family headed up to the Main Event and it was my first time going. It was a blast. There was music going during bowling. Then we headed up to Lazer Tag where my team won. ;) Then we went to the Glow in the Dark Mini Golf. After we went Rock Climbing for a bit then when it got closer to Midnight we headed by the bar and the pool tables till midnight.
That was my pretty much my holiday break.

I wanna work out more than i usually do.(:

Im looking foward to the upcoming volleyball season.(:
